Hhmmm - good question. I do it so automatically now, I have to think about the answer. Having your silks organised helps speed things up. Also, not using length of silks that are too long and get tangled as you stitch saves time. I tend to work in sections (in the bus' case, determined by the embroidery hoop) and stitch the same colour for a block before filling in more detail with the next colour (if that makes sense). The first progress photo shows this best I think. How much time all of these save, I can't say. I guess practise also helps!

That bus is going to get a speeding ticket if you go any faster! What are your top tips for cross stitching faster - I desperately need some!
